The hype is heavy for a potential fight between British super middleweight contender Carl Froch and WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.
Golovkin wants the fight and he's willing to head up to 168-pounds to make it, and he's ready to travel to the UK where Froch will have the home advantage.
Hall of Famer and former champion Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini believes the fight, stylistically, is a very bad match that could backfire on Golovkin. Froch is big, he's strong, has a good chin, and knows how to dig deep to win.
Mancini says the match is winnable for Golovkin, but he wouldn't advise the dangerous middleweight to pursue that match.
"That’s a bad fight for Golovkin. Not that Golovkin couldn’t beat him, but Froch is a big, strong guy. Style wise it’s not right. Styles make fights, fighters don’t make fights. Froch is a bad style for Golovkin — not that he couldn’t beat him but it’s just one of those fights where you may win but you’re gonna leave a pound of flesh too. But Cotto, Freddie Roach won’t let him within the same area code as Golovkin," Mancini told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
