Joseph Parker was sent a copy of the script he was supposed to follow this past weekend. Once he noticed that Deontay Wilder was scheduled to send him to the emergency room, he ripped up that sheet of paper and began writing his own screenplay.

Wilder sauntered to the ring as confident as ever. Malik Scott, a former heavyweight contender turned trainer, felt the exact same way. However, once the opening bell rang, Parker realized that Wilder was simply all bark and no bite.

Few and far between did Wilder let his right hand go. He fought listlessly and like a man who was bemused out there. Immediately after losing a lopsided decision, Scott has been forced to answer a long list of questions.

Scott, by and large, has a few ideas as to why Wilder looked apathetic out there but ultimately, he doesn’t want to solely focus on Wilder but more so his opponent.

“Father Time is undefeated,” admitted Scott to BoxingScene.com. “Deontay couldn’t pull the trigger like we trained to do, and we have to give credit to the f——— opponent. Can somebody say he was in there with Joseph Parker?”

Of course, Parker has been near the top of the heavyweight mountain for years now. From 2016-2018, the 31-year-old had a tight grip on the WBO crown. Although he would eventually lose his title, he’s remained in the mix.

Just when he was in the midst of putting it all together, Joe Joyce derailed him in 2022. But, with Wilder becoming his fourth straight win, all coming this year, Scott wants him to get all of the credit in the world.

Making excuses isn’t something that Scott is a fan of. But he believes that Wilder had a ton going against him, mainly, an incredibly respectable opponent.

“That was a very, very dangerous fight to take on in a short period of time. It just was.”
