Malignaggi on Cano's Power, The Scores, Making Weight
In the opinion of WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7KOs), Mexican boxer Pablo Cesar Cano (25-2, 19KOs) did not try to make the weight on Friday - when Cano stepped on the scale and he was over the welterweight limit. "In my opinion, I think they took a different approach as far as when they handled the time to make the weight. I don't think they really tried to make the weight after they had time to make the weight," Emes said. "I think figured 'let's not weaken ourselves, let's just try to get a win over Malignaggi instead because a win over Malignaggi is still a win over a name and we don't have a win over a name yet. If we try to make the weight we may weaken ourselves.'"

Paulie won the fight with his jab- at least according to two judges. Paulie landed an avg. of 13 per round (double the wgt. class avg.), throwing 54 per round. Cano landed 44% of his power shots (165 of 378- 14 landed per round), dropping Paulie in round eleven with a chopping right hand. Cano landed 12 power shots per round vs. the then-35 yr. old Erik Morales (9/17/11), losing on a tenth round tko due to cuts.

Cano: I Want Malignaggi Rematch, They Probably Don't
WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Pablo Cesar Cano (25-2-1, 19KOs) wants a rematch with Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7KOs), the WBA's welterweight champion. On Saturday, Malignaggi won a twelve round split decision over Cano, but many of the fans in attendence and some of the ringside reports had scored the fight in favor of the tough Mexican. Cano is not expecting to get a second opportunity against Malignaggi, who is angling to get a lucrative rematch with Ricky Hatton.
