On Thursday BoxingScene.com's Keith Idec broke the news that super welterweight contender Terrell Gausha had pulled out of his upcoming fight against Erickson Lubin. The fight was going to serve as the main event of a Showtime tripleheader.
Stepping in for Gashau will be hard hitting Nathaniel Gallimore (21-3). The 31-year-old lost back-to-back fights against Julian Williams and Patrick Teixeira but bounced back in August with a knockout win over Antonio.
While Gausha was the more decorated amateur, Lubin's coach Kevin Cunningham views Gallimore as a more dangerous opponent.
“We just found out that Gausha pulled out of the fight. I am not sure why but they are saying it is supposedly some type of injury but I don’t know what kind. I see the Gallimore fight as a more dangerous fight than the Gausha fight because Gallimore is a bigger puncher than Gausha,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
Both Gausha and Gallimore are orthodox fighters but their styles are very different. With only two weeks left of camp, Cunningham has his work cut out for him. He has to get a new game plan put together very quickly.
“I am going to make some drastic changes in terms of strategy. They have a few similarities but I think Gallimore is going to take a few more chances and be more aggressive than Gausha would be. There are a few strategic changes we are going to have to make. Once I found out who the new opponent was I immediately began to break down footage and come up with the new strategy,” Cunningham explained.
Regardless of who is in the other corner, Cunningham expects his charge to shine on Showtime. He expects Lubin to leave an impression on everyone tuning in to watch the fight.
“Opponents may fall out and names may change on the contract but you still are going to get a spectacular performance from Hammer on October 26th
