Former IBF middleweight world champion David Lemieux (39-4, 33 KOs) of Montreal, Canada is not concerned with the bold words from Ireland's Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan (28-2, 20 KOs), as they are less than a month away from their fireworks showdown.

The contest will take place on September 15, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The card will be headlined by the middleweight rematch between Canelo Alvarez and WBC, IBO, WBA world champion Gennady Golovkin. HBO Pay-Per-View will carry both contests.

Lemieux has lost two of his last seven. He was dominated over twelve rounds last December, by WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders.

He came back to the ring in May of this year, and won a twelve round unanimous decision over Karim Achour, in a bout where Lemieux struggled with his weight and was unable to make the middleweight limit - as he was two pounds above the weight class.

O'Sullivan is riding a six fight win streak, which began after suffering a TKO defeat at the hands of Chris Eubank Jr. in December 2015.

He stopped his last five opponents in seven rounds or less.

“We’re studying Gary O’Sullivan very closely throughout my camp,” Lemieux said to Yahoo Sports. “We’re not worried. We’re very confident, my team and I, in what we’ll bring to the table against Gary. I’m stronger, I’m better looking and I’m the better fighter.”

The winner of that fight may land a crack at the main event winner.

Lemieux was dominated a few years ago by Golovkin, but he still likes his chances in a rematch.

“It would require tremendous training and tremendous preparation to beat a guy like Golovkin. That’s what I would do. The interesting thing would that after all these years that have passed, I’m reaching my peak now. Back when I fought Golovkin, he was at his peak. The difference in the rematch would be David Lemieux at his peak and knowing what he’d be facing against Golovkin," Lemieux said.
