Lee Selby: record, next fight and profile →
IBF World Champion Lee Selby has labelled Josh Warrington ‘a little b*tch’ ahead of their historic Leeds clash this Saturday night, live on BoxNation. The Welsh star will put his 126-pound title on the line when he travels up to Leeds United’s Elland Road to take on home town hero Warrington in front of 25,000 fans.
BOXNATION DELIVERED TO UK fans an undoubted contender for Fight of the Year in the early hours of Sunday morning. We witnessed something very special between Vasyl Lomachenko and Jorge Linares, where Lomachenko prevailed in round ten courtesy of a crippling body shot. I am now convinced Lomachenko is the best fighter I have seen since Sugar Ray Leonard.
The ex-pro and head honcho at the thriving St Joseph’s gym in Newport insists defending IBF champ Lee Selby is several rungs above Josh Warrington in terms of talent, ahead of Saturday’s salivating Featherweight world title fight at Leeds United’s Elland Road, shown live on BT Sport and BoxNation.
The 27-year-old from Leeds finally gets his shot at the world title he has long sought, when at Elland Road – where he will be led to the ring by Lucas Radebe – he can justify comparisons with Hatton. In addition to Warrington’s physicality and growing fan base the circumstances in which he challenges Wales’ Selby are similar to those surrounding perhaps Manchester’s finest fighter on the night he came of age.
Wales' IBF World Featherweight Champion Lee Selby is not concerned by the hostile reception he's set to receive in Leeds this week. Selby makes the fifth defence of his belt against unbeaten mandatory challenger Josh Warrington at Elland Road football stadium, live on BoxNation. There has been bad blood between the British rivals for a couple of years now, but the time for talking will be over on May 19th.
Carl Frampton (25-1, 14 KOs), 31-years-old, is focused on regaining a world title in 2018. Frampton, a former two division world champion, lost his WBA featherweight title by way of a close twelve round decision to Leo Santa Cruz in January 2017.
Former Commonwealth gold medallist Sean McGoldrick is sparring world champions Lee Selby and Jamie McDonnell ahead of letting loose his frustration in Gloucester on May 12. McGoldrick (4-0-KO2) had been due to box on last month's Anthony Joshua v Joseph Parker undercard in Cardiff in front of an ocean of Welsh fans only for scheduling issues to deny him.
Featherweight World Champion Lee Selby believes Josh Warrington has shown him no respect. The pair are set to clash in an enthralling showdown from Leeds United’s famous Elland Road on Saturday May 19th for Selby’s IBF World Title, live on BoxNation.
Former two-division world champion Carl Frampton will battle former four-division champion Nonito Donaire on Saturday, April 21 in Belfast, Ireland for the interim WBO Featherweight Title. Then, on Saturday, May 19, IBF World Champion Lee Selby will defend his 126-pound title against undefeated Josh Warrington live from Leeds, England. Both SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL® social media offerings will stream live in the U.S. on SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page and SHOWTIME Sports YouTube Channel. The events are promoted by Frank Warren with live coverage provided by BT Sport and BoxNation.
