Lara-Smith in Play For December 12 in San Antonio

By Steve Kim

Several sources have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that a special edition of 'ShoBox' on Showtime will take place from San Antonio, Texas on December 12th. The main event that night will be most likely be a match-up between Erislandy Lara (19-2-2, 12KOs) and Ishe Smith (26-6, 12KOs) for a version of the WBA junior middleweight title.

The last we saw of Lara he was losing a disputed decision to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (in a catch-weight bout at 155-pounds) over the summer and Smith, since losing his IBF 154-pound belt to Carlos Molina last September, has rebounded with a second round stoppage of Ryan Davis this past May.

Lara-Smith was scheduled to take place in May, but Lara withdrew when the offer to fight Canelo was presented.
