Tyson Fury has dismissed suggestions that his time spent training alongside Wladimir Klitschko gives him an advantage when he challenges the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion on Saturday. Fury remained a raw, unproven professional when, five years ago, he spent time in the Klitschko training camp while working with trainer, the late Emmanuel Steward. In the build-up to Saturday's fight at Dusseldorf's ESPRIT arena, he has already spoken of the time he outlasted Klitschko in a sauna, and he has also trained alongside Eddie Chambers, a former Klitschko opponent who for more than a year worked with Fury's trainer and uncle Peter.
Johnathon Banks, head trainer for WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53KOs), is very confident that a knockout victory is coming up this Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Germany. Klitschko will defend his titles against mandatory challenger Tyson Fury (24-0, 18KOs) at the ESPIRIT Arena. Fury has promised to come in there swinging away for a homerun punch, because he believes the judges will rob him if the fight extends to a twelve round distance.
Challenger Tyson Fury’s problem with his gloves prior to his clash with heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday has been solved. Former WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, now a full-time politician as the mayor of Kiev, joined younger brother Wladimir Klitschko at his training camp in Austria - helping him prepare for his upcoming defense of the WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight titles against undefeated contender Tyson Fury on Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Jono Carroll had been set for a non-television appearance to end the year, live on Sky Sports Box Office, but a change has been made. The Dublin super featherweight, who won the lightweight Prizefighter last year, will still box on the pay-per-view format. But the scheduled showing will be sooner rather than later after his showcase on the undercard of the heavyweight grudge match between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte at the O2 Arena in London was cancelled.
Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis says current champ Wladimir Klitschko, who faces Tyson Fury next Saturday, lacks the last final belt to be considered his legitimate successor. Klitschko, 39, will defend his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles against Britain's Fury, 27, in Duesseldorf next Saturday having last tasted defeat more than a decade ago.
Tyson Fury has promised to produce the type of risk-taking performance against Wladimir Klitschko that David Haye could not manage. Haye, who is contemplating a return to the ring after a three-year break, was emphatically beaten on points by Klitschko in their 2011 clash - he boxed just once more against Dereck Chisora before two withdrawals from fights with Fury.
