Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has confirmed that Carl Frampton, 14-0 (9), will challenge EBU super bantamweight titlist Kiko Martinez, 26-3 (19), at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on September 22. Frampton will hope to use the fight as a launch pad for a tilt at either Scott Quigg or Rendall Munroe, who met in June to establish domestic dominance. However, a clash of heads, which led to a cut to the eye of Munroe, meant that the interim WBA title fight was stopped and declared a technical draw - leaving a lingering uncertainty over who is the top man on the U.K. scene.

By Jake Donovan - Kiko Martinez repeated his success over Arsen Martirosyan, this time going on the road to pull out a 12th round knockout in their 12-round super bantamweight bout Friday evening at Palais des Sports de Gerland in Lyon, France.

EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (25-3, 18KOs) defends the title February 12 in Lyon, France, against Arsen Martirosyan (18-4, 8KOs). Martirosyan hails from Armenia but has been based in Lyon for a long time. Arsen lost to Martinez last year at the Nation Stadium in Dublin and it wasn´t even close [scores of 118-110, 118-110 and 116-112] so this is a big gamble from the promoters in Lyon.

The postponed bout for the European super bantamweight championship is likely going to happen on December 17 at King's Hall in Belfast. Undefeated Carl Frampton (11-0, 7KOs) will challenge champion Kiko Martinez (25-3, 18KOs). They were scheduled to fight in September, but Martinez withdrew to look after his seriously ill father.

Commonwealth super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton says he has yet to be approached about any proposed contest with European champion Kiko Martinez in Belfast in December. Kiko Martinez has withdrawn from his EBU super bantamweight title defence against Ireland's Carl 'The Jackal' Frampton. When confirming the decision to pull out, the Spanish titlist cited his father's recent illness, which resulted in him having to have his leg amputated.

Carl Frampton says his fight with Kiko Martinez is the biggest night of boxing that Ireland has seen “for many, many years” and vows to keep the European belt in Belfast.

Carl Frampton will challenge Kiko Martinez for the European Super Bantamweight title on September 10 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

At the Plaza de Toros La Cubierta in Comunidad de Madrid, Spain, Kiko Martinez (25-3, 18KOs) capture the vacant EBU super bantamweight title with a tenth round stoppage of Jason Booth (36-7, 15KOs). Martinez was by far the stronger man and used that strength to wear Booth down in the fight. He hurt Booth in fifth and then again in the eight and ninth rounds. In the tenth, a left hand hurt Booth very badly and ended the fight as the referee had seen enough.
