And after beating late stand-in Steve Molitor in September, Frampton says the extra time will help in his efforts to beat the 26-year-old Martinez, who has a new promoter in namesake Sergio, the WBC middleweight champion. "He's pulled out on me twice so I have a score to settle with him there," said Frampton. "It's a great fight for the fans and one that I have craved for a long time. "I had too much for Steve Molitor and he was a step-up, so I am confident I can beat Kiko and do so in style.

Maravilla Box Management will now stage Kiko Martinez´s defense of the EBU super bantamweight title against mandatory challenger Carl Frampton, 15-0, on January 26 in Spain with exact site to be announced. MBM won the purse bids for the fight October 1 although it was first scheduled for September in Northern Ireland but Martinez, 27-3, pulled out due to an injury. Frampton fought Steve Molitor instead and won. Mandatory challenger was then Alexander Bakhtin but he pulled out and Frampton got that spot and now Martinez vs Frampton is finally on again.

A few days ago on BoxingScene.com, it was reported that middleweight champion Sergio Martinez won the EBU's purse bid for the mandatory fight between champion Kiko Martinez and challenger Carl Frampton (15-0). However, Frampton's promoter Eddie Hearn appears to have ruled out any prospect of a fight with Martinez. They were scheduled to face each other on two previous occasions, but Martinez withdrew due to injuries.

Maravilla Box Management of Spain, headed by WBC middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez himself, won the purse bids today in Rome for the mandatory fght between EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez and challenger Carl Frampton. MBM bid 62,000 EUR, Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport finished second best with an offer for 30,001 EUR, while Pat Magee bid 26,000 EUR.
