British star Amir 'King' Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is going to consider a possible fight with WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) in 2016.

Khan says Thurman should probably change his nickname to 'sometimes' because he's been unable to get those impressive knockouts as of late.

Both Khan and Thurman were trying to get a crack at WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who returns on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Neither fighter is getting Mayweather. The pound-for-pound king is reportedly facing former champion Andre Berto in a pay-per-view encounter.

Thurman wants to fight Khan in the fall, but Khan is looking to face him next year - possibly if the terms make sense.

"Keith is a good fighter. He calls himself ‘one-time’ but it should be ‘sometimes’ because it’s just not really happening for him lately, with the level going up around him. I like him and I’d take that fight. He’s obviously built his name up in America knocking people out and beating a lot of the people who I’ve beaten. Next year could be the biggest year of my life. Maybe a Kell Brook fight could happen, maybe a Keith Thurman fight could happen. If it makes sense, then definitely," Khan told Sport360.
