The career of Keyshawn Davis has been going the exact opposite of slow and steady. The mundane run-of-the-mill fights that prospect normally take to get their feet wet normally last for years. Davis though, graduated a while ago. Now, he’s seemingly prepared for the next phase.

To kick start his 2024, Davis will face his first former world champion when he takes on Jose Pedraza. A decade may separate them in the age column but Davis isn’t worried about what the veteran brings to the table.

After watching Pedraza as of late, he appears to be running on fumes. Against Jose Ramirez, Richard Commey, and Arnold Barboza, Pedraza failed to pick up a single win. If everything goes according to plan, Davis (9-0, 6 KOs) will extend his winless streak to four.

Although he doesn’t want to look too far ahead, Davis is already mapping out the rest of his 2024. A win over Pedraza would be the biggest of his career but that’ll only be transient. By and large, he has far bigger fish to fry.

“I would love to fight (Vasiliy) Lomachenko,” Davis told BoxingScene.com.

Lomachenko doesn’t do much press, but in all likelihood, Davis is the furthest person from his mind. His next bout hasn’t been officially announced yet, but he's slated to face George Kambosos Jr. for the vacant IBF lightweight strap.

Davis is looking forward to watching them get it on, but he isn’t giving Kambosos much of a chance. If he’s successful, Lomachenko could make one more attempt to become an undisputed champion. Whether he does or he doesn’t, Davis hopes that he gets his chance against him. Not only does he believe he’s seasoned enough to face him but at just 24 years of age, Davis is convinced that he could knock him off this year.

“I would love to fight Lomachenko by the end of this year.”
