After scouting for months for a new trainer, former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. plans to retain the services of Freddie Roach. Chavez is scheduled to return on June 22nd in either Texas of Mexico City.

"No, I will not change coaches. I will continue with Freddie Roach. I will train the last few months with him, because I will be heading to Otomni to be with my coach Vladimir Valdenegro, who always helps me prepare," Chavez told reporters during a training session.

Chavez (46-1-1, 32KOs) tried to hire Nacho Beristain but they were unable to reach an agreement on the money.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum told BoxingScene.com on Thursday that Chavez will face either Matthew Macklin, Darren Barker or Brian Vera.

Chavez was last seen in September, where he suffered a decision loss to Sergio Martinez. He then tested positive for marijuana and got suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The suspension runs until June 15th.
