Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) will have a meeting this weekend with promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions to discuss the possibility of a December fight.

Marquez, who was plagued by knee issues since early last year, has not fought since winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado.

Zanfer has reserved a date in December - if Marquez decides that he wants to return, but they won't know what he intends to do until the meeting takes place.

"This weekend we will have a meeting with Juan Manuel Marquez. We have no idea what will happen with him..........if he wants to return, how he wants to return, if he is interested in the championship or a farewell fight. I'll know everything once Fernando Beltran meets him," said Guillermo Brito, Chief Operating Officer of Zanfer Promotions, to ESPN Deportes.

"At this time there is a date for him. Everything will depend on what he tell us, so we're not getting ahead of ourselves. Let's see what he says because that's what matters."
