Juan Francisco Estrada: record, next fight and profile →
If there is no Srisaket Sor Rungvisai or Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, former world champion Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada will have no problem getting in the ring with any of the best 115-pounders in the world - as part of the third edition of Superfly.
After two highly acclaimed editions of 'SuperFly', which features the sports little big men, a third chapter of this series is being penciled in for the late summer. Tom Loeffler, who staged and organized the first two 'SuperFly' fight cards told BoxingScene.com - "The shows coming together, we're looking at September 8th as the date from HBO. Just confirming all the match-ups on the show. It should be a triple-header, again. This has been one of the most successful series on TV and it will be one of the most anticipated cards coming up for the year."
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has revealed that despite having the opportunity to make a voluntary defense against any of the top 15 ranked contenders in the division, WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, maintains the intention of having a direct rematch against Juan Francisco Estrada.
The team of former world champion Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada are hoping to have the opportunity to have a rematch with World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Srisaket Sr Rungvisai of Thailand in September, as long as both come out victorious and unharmed in their respective commitments mid-year.
WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vowed to hurt Juan Francisco Estrada badly and knock him out if they meet again. The 31-year-old Thai boxer returned to a warm welcome at Suvarnabhumi airport after scoring a majority win over the Mexican challenger at the Los Angeles Forum on Saturday.
Last Saturday night, World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand defended his crown for the second time with a twelve round majority decision over mandatory challenger Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico. The fight headlined a big night as part of the HBO televised event, SuperFly 2, that promoter Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions organized at The Forum of Inglewood, in Los Angeles, California.
With the bitter taste of not having been able to go out with the championship last Saturday in California against Srisaket Sr Rungvisai, former world champion Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada has asked the organizers of Superfly to provide better salaries for the smaller weight fighters. Estrada, along with Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, have long been advocates for smaller weight fighters to get paid more money.
Last Saturday night at the Los Angeles Forum in California, Thailand's Srisaket Sor Rungvisai retained his World Boxing Council title by beating challenger Juan Estrada, holding on in the later rounds to come out with a close majority decision. Srisaket compiled a big lead by winning almost all of the first seven rounds in the 12-round super flyweight title fight. But the hard-hitting 31-year-old couldn’t get the knockout he was hoping for and even looked the more tired of the two in the final round.
The second installment of “SuperFly” drew lower ratings than HBO’s first telecast, but produced similar ratings to the premium cable network’s first boxing offering of 2018. According to ratings released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research, HBO’s main event Saturday night between Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada drew a peak audience of 753,000. Sor Rungvisai-Estrada averaged 639,000 viewers.
The little guys delivered again. HBO’s investment in Roman Gonzalez has borne fruit on several vines. Gonzalez’s classics with Carlos Cuadras and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai now are joined by excellent clashes between Cuadras and Juan Francisco Estrada and now Estrada and Sor Rungvisai.
