Former undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor would love to get a second crack at WBO world champion Teofimo Lopez.

Last year in New York City, Lopez handed the Scottish boxer his first defeat as a pro. Lopez outboxed and outlanded Taylor over twelve rounds to capture the WBO world title.

Taylor is currently unsure of his next move - as he mulls a potential move to the welterweight limit of 147.

But, getting the opportunity to avenge his first career defeat is certainly something Taylor would jump on.

"In my opinion he is the number one now in the 140-pound division. He beat the man who was the man, who had all the belts, who was undisputed champion," Taylor said to Sky Sports.

"He beat Lomachenko. Then he beat me who was undisputed [Taylor had to vacate three of his belts while trying to make the Jack Catterall rematch]. I'd love to correct that wrong and box him again. I would love to fight him. There's the big one, the obvious one [Catterall] that I'd like to do as well. I'll fight anybody."

Lopez is reportedly heading in the direction of making a voluntary defense against Jermaine Ortiz.

For Taylor, the biggest fight would be the rematch with Catterall. In February of 2022, Taylor won a controversial twelve round split decision over Catterall. A second fight was negotiated, but ultimately it never came off as planned. Catterall is currently lined up for an IBF world title eliminator against Richardson Hitchins, with a purse bid scheduled to take place later this month.

Taylor hopes to return to the ring in the first quarter of the year.
