A conference call held by Golden Boy Promotions on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the news that most had already begun to whisper – Saul Alvarez’ opponent on September 15 will be Victor Ortiz.

NEW YORK —Building off its Emmy® Award-winning campaign in 2011, SHOWTIME Sports® will introduce a new documentary series titled ALL ACCESS in June.

Luis Sandoval catches up with Victor Ortiz to discuss his upcoming fight with Josesito Lopez, training camp, strategy for a new opponent and more.

Ernest Gabion catches up with junior welterweight contender Josesito Lopez about taking a fight on late notice against former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz.

Trainer Henry Ramirez is on the cusp of a very busy June 23, as Riverside Lincoln Gym charges Josesito Lopez and Chris Arreola are close to appearing on a likely reconstructed card at Staples Center in Los Angeles. After former welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KOs) tested positive for a banned substance, his scheduled matchup with fellow former 147-pound titleholder Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KOs) would be conceivably shelved for one between Ortiz and Lopez (29-4, 17 KOs). Arreola would appear on the undercard against an opponent to be determined. BoxingScene.com first reported on Sunday afternoon that Lopez was the likely replacement for Berto, with Arreola receiving an undercard nod.

Promoter Dan Goossen has advised BoxingScene.com that WBC super middleweight Andre Ward (25-0, 13KOs), and WBC light heavyweight king Chad Dawson (31-1, 17KOs), have agreed to terms for a fight on September 8th. Dawson would come down 168 to meet Ward for the WBC title.

According to several sources who spoke to BoxingScene.com, Josesito Lopez (29-4, 17KOs) has been approached, and already accepted, the opportunity to face former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22KOs) on June 23rd at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The fight has not been finalized, from what BoxingScene has been told.

Kendall Holt has withdrawn from his scheduled June 22 fight against Josesito Lopez. Holt, a former WBO junior welterweight champion, told BoxingScene.com that he pulled out of the 12-round bout because he is concerned about boxing outside during the summer in Southern California. Holt had agreed to fight Lopez in an ESPN2 main event, but changed his mind when he learned Dan Goossen, Lopez’s promoter, had secured Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, Calif. as the site for the fight.

Kendall Holt has lost the last two elimination matches that could’ve earned the former WBO junior welterweight champion another title shot. He knows he can’t allow it to happen a third time June 22. Holt has signed a contract to fight Josesito Lopez that night in a 12-round fight for the No. 2 spot in the IBF’s junior welterweight rankings.
