Jose Pedraza: record, next fight and profile →
Julian Rodriguez has secured the step up in competition he has sought. BoxingScene.com has learned that Rodriguez, an undefeated junior welterweight, and former two-division champion Jose Pedraza have agreed to terms for a 10-round fight that ESPN will televise sometime early this summer. The date and venue for the Pedraza-Rodriguez fight have not been solidified.
Former two-weight world champion Jose Pedraza continued his successful 2020 with a second straight win last month in Las Vegas, Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Hotel, with a convincing victory against Javier Molina, who was fresh off a career best victory over Amir Iman.
Former two division champion Jose Pedraza did not agree with the scoring of Saturday's big lightweight clash between world champions Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez. Lopez won a twelve round unanimous decision over Lomachenko at the MGM Grand's Conference Center in Las Vegas.
Former two division champion Jose Pedraza is very familiar with WBC franchise, WBA, WBO lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko. Pedraza lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Lomachenko in 2018. In the eleventh round, Pedraza was dropped twice and appeared to be on the verge of getting stopped before surviving the onslaught.
Former two division world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza will likely not fight again until the first quarter of 2021. Pedraza saw action twice in 2020, with a dominant decision win over Carlos Molina on September 19 at the MGM Grand's Conference Center in Las Vegas.
Jose 'Sniper' Pedraza hopes to secure the opportunity to fight for a third championship belt, but he could have to wait a while amid the pandemic and the busy schedule in the junior welterweight division.

Jose Pedraza has officially settled in as a junior welterweight. The former two-division titlist picked up his second straight win at the weight, the latest coming in a lopsided unanimous decision win over Javier Molina. Pedraza won by scores of 98-92, 98-92 and 99-91 on the respective cards of judges Julie Lederman, Patricia Morse-Jarman and Tim Cheatham in their battle of 2008 Olympians saw Saturday evening at The Bubble in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Consider this to be Jose Pedraza’s introduction to the junior welterweight title stage. It’s the way that the former junior lightweight and lightweight titlist certainly views things, considering the heavy investment into the 140-pound division. It’s certainly how he’s treating his upcoming clash with California’s Javier Molina (22-2, 9KOs), which takes place this weekend at The Bubble in Las Vegas (Saturday, ESPN+, 7:30 p.m. ET).
Having already shared the ring with him, Jose Pedraza is well-versed on the boxing brilliance of Vasiliy Lomachenko. The former two-division titlist believes that at some point, a similar lesson will be taught to Teofimo Lopez. Pedraza has his own fight to concentrate on this weekend as he faces Javier Molina in a junior welterweight pairing of 2008 Olympians this Saturday. Their ESPN+ headliner—which airs live from The Bubble in Las Vegas—will mark Pedraza’s third fight at the weight and fourth overall since a December 2018 points loss to Ukraine’s Lomachenko (14-1, 10KOs) to end his lightweight title reign.
