Buenos Aires - The legal case involving former champion Jorge "Hyena" Barrios will be heading to trial. Barrios will defend himself against charges from a deadly car accident that took place earlier this year in Buenos Aires. Barrios lost control of his automobile and crashed. The accident killed a 20-year-old pregnant woman. Barrios' attorney, Jose Vera, informed reporters that the prosecutor Maria Teresa Martinez, in charge of investigating the case, closed the criminal investigation and the case will be upgraded shortly to trial status.

Graciela Morales, mother of Jamie Morales, the 20 year old who died in the accident, asked that the case "does not go unpunished." The boxer is accused of "aggravated homicide." He is alleged to have been speeding and ran a red light at the time of the accident. He fled the scene of the accident. His lawyer brought him to the police station a few hours after the accident.

The boxer is accused of the crime of "aggravated homicide" by the death of Jamie Gonzalez and "negligent minor injury" caused to the victim's mother and two other girls who were traveling in a car hit by the van de Barrios.

Barrios' attorney told reporters that numerous post-accident test were conducted and show that his client was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
