It was made official on Thursday at the Golden Boy Promotions office in Los Angeles as super bantamweight prospect, Joet Gonzalez, became the latest young boxer to sign with Oscar De La Hoya's company.

Eric Gomez, the company's Senior V.P. and Matchmaker told BoxingScene.com on Thursday afternoon - "I'm very excited. Joet's a local kid, has an amateur background. He's a good little fighter, and he's right around the weight class of all he guys we've been promoting lately - all the young guys - and he just fits into the plan."

The 21-year-old Gonzalez, who hails from Los Angeles, is a perfect fit for Golden Boy's revived 'L.A. Fight Club' series which starts up again tonight from the Belasco Theater.

"It's going to be great for his fans to be able to see him locally," said Gomez.

The young prospect, who has a record of 8-0 (3 KO's) is managed by Frank Espinoza, who has worked well in the past with Golden Boy.

"This is a great opportunity for us, it's a great platform for Joet with Golden Boy signing him. He's an up-and-coming prospect who had a great amateur career. I think he's going to do some really good things," said the manager, who also handles the likes of Antonio Orozco and Oscar Valdez.

"It's a great fight with Golden Boy and we're really excited to be working with them."
