Jesus Ramos has quickly gained a reputation as arguably the brightest prospect among the deep Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) stable.

Such accolades were not at all lost on the 19-year old, who delivered an emphatic statement in a 2nd round stoppage of Esteban García in their battle of unbeaten welterweights Sunday evening. Their Fox-televised clash—which aired live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles—also came on a night where Ramos’ uncle, Abel Ramos headlined albeit in an unsuccess welterweight title bid versus Yordenis Ugas (26-4, 12KOs).

“It was really an honor fighting ahead of him tonight, he’s fighting for his first world title,” Ramos told Fox Sports’ Heidi Androl of sharing the stage with his uncle for the sixth time in their respective careers.

The younger Ramos continues to turn heads every time he steps in the ring. His recent rise has been limited to undercard appearances on FS1 telecasts, before graduating to the main stage on Sunday. The teenaged prodigy from Casa Grande, Arizona stepped up to the challenge on this occasion, having his way with an unbeaten though untested foe in García.

It didn’t take long for Ramos to assert himself, working behind the jab early on before opening up his attack. A powerpunching display left García defenseless late in round two, thus mercifully forcing the stoppage.

"I'm happy with my performance tonight," said Ramos, who fought for the first time since a 6th round knockout of Rama Amanov this past February on FS1. "We wanted to make a statement and I think I did that tonight. I thought Garcia was going to come out to fight but I was more than ready and it showed in the ring."

Ramos has now scored three straight knockouts since going the distance for the lone time in his career in a four-round win over Kevin Shacks last June in Las Vegas.
