Jason Moloney will look to finally push his world title bid over the edge on November 15 as the WBA number 3 will defend his WBA Oceania bantamweight title against Dixon Flores in Melbourne with the show been showed worldwide on ESPN+. The show will also see brother Andrew Moloney challenge for a version of the WBA world title.
Moloney has been sat in a lofty position in the WBA rankings for close to two years, and now has the challenge of the WBA"s number 10, Dixon Flores, to contend with as he looks to finally gain a showdown for the world 118-pound strap.
Moloney discussed his upcoming date with Flores and what it could lead to going forward, "Firstly thank you to my manager Tony Tolj for getting me on this amazing show in Melbourne on November 15 and in a tough fight where I believe I will show my skills off again and prove that I am more than ready to fight for the world title again.
"This is not an easy fight for me but I have a point to prove. I have waited a long time to fight for the world title again and I want to show the world why it should be me next in line to face the winner of Solis vs Rigondeaux if that fight happens or fight either of the above for the title in the future. I'm coming into my prime and I know I will give any bantamweight in the world the fight of their lives.
“To fight on the same show as my brother who is challenging for the world title is a very special thing and I’m planning on setting the tone for the main event by putting on an explosive performance.”
Moloney's WBA Oceania title clash will come on an all-star show put together by Danny Green's Green Machine Boxing, Tony Tolj's Dragon Fire Boxing and world promotional juggernauts Top Rank. Moloney gave his take on being a part of one of Australia's biggest shows in years.
'The Smooth One' said, "To be part of this show is fantastic and I have to thank Danny Green and his team and Top Rank for getting me on such a high profile showdown under. It's going to be a show full of top talent in exciting fights that people all over the world will take note of, so I'm very excited to be a part of it.
“I’m delighted that the show will be shown live on ESPN+. ESPN is a world leader in sports broadcasting so being on a show that is being carried by ESPN is a massive thing for myself and my brother and I’m very grateful to the team for getting me this opportunity.
"This could be my last fight in Australia for a long time so I'm glad it's on a show of this magnitude and I plan on putting on a memorable performance that people will remember for years to come."
