Jason Moloney has every intention of one day facing the winner of the World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament.

To ensure that path, the Australia-bred contender remains firmly in pursuit of a secondary title versus Liborio Solis (29-5-1, 13KOs), the highest rated WBA bantamweight contender.

The “regular” version of the sanctioning body’s 118-pound strap will become available once a date and venue is finalized for the WBSS finals between WBA “Super” titlist Nonito Donaire and unbeaten Naoya Inoue later this year.

"I've been vocal about wanting to fight Solis for a while now,” Moloney (19-1, 16KOs) told BoxingScene of his quest to land his next title fight. “I have all the respect in the world for him he is an excellent fighter, but he is standing in my way of becoming a world champion, so I have to do everything in my power to win this fight if the fight is made in the near future.”

Moloney planted the seed immediately after his most recent start, a 3rd round knockout of Goodluck Mrema earlier this June in his homeland of New South Wales, Australia. The win was his second straight since coming up just short in the WBSS quarterfinals round versus then-unbeaten titlist Emmanuel Rodriguez last October.

Standing in the way of a shot versus Solis is Cuba’s Guillermo Rigondeaux, the lineal 122-pound champion who will be removed from the next round of bantamweight rankings.

"I think this will be a great fight and I believe it is one that my manager Tony Tolj and my promotional team at Top Rank are eyeing up for me,” notes Moloney, who acknowledges that such a fight will likely land in the United States. “If it comes off I think it will be a fight that the fans will enjoy, but I can guarantee them the world title is coming back to Australia when I fight Solis."
