It all normally starts with a dream. That dream manifests into opportunity and that opportunity, with a bit of luck and hard work, transforms into an actual reality.

For countless boxers around the globe, they are usually motivated by the thought of becoming a world champion. That golden strap sitting on their mantle is all they can think about. But while most are consumed by it, Jared Anderson couldn’t care less about that monumental achievement.

“I don’t feel like I need to be an undisputed champion or I have to be a world champion,” said Anderson recently to Top Rank Boxing.

For the talented 23-year-old, his message has been consistent. Although he moves and has the reflexes of a middleweight, he still possesses the power to fit in perfectly fine with the rest of his heavyweight contemporaries. His unique combination has many believing that it’s only a matter of time before Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs) moves to the top of the heavyweight mountain and grabs a handful of titles.

But despite having all of the talent in the world, Anderson has said on countless occasions that he isn’t in love with the sport of boxing. To a large extent, Anderson views the brutal sport as a means to an end.

So while many have dreams and goals that they wish to accomplish inside the ring, Anderson is more focused on the zeros attached to the end of his paycheck.

A retirement target date of 27 has already been set for Anderson. By that time, he figures that his bank account will be overflowing with life-changing money. It may come across as disappointing to some, but Anderson isn’t interested in anyone else’s opinion. When he walks around his palatial estate and stops to stare in the nearest mirror he can find, Anderson likes what he sees.

“I don’t need validation to know who I am.”
