LAS VEGAS – Jamontay Clark didn’t differentiate himself much from Aaron Coley on Saturday night, but he narrowly won their eight-round battle between southpaws.
The last time Sebastian Fundora fought a southpaw, the tall, lanky left-handed fighter settled for a 10-round split draw with Jamontay Clark. That draw remains the only fight Fundora hasn’t won since he made his pro debut in September 2016. He’ll face his first left-handed foe Saturday night since he and Clark boxed to a split draw in August 2019 at The Armory in Minneapolis.

David Benavidez’s victory Saturday night drew more viewers than the former super middleweight champion’s previous appearance on Showtime. Nielsen Media Research reported Tuesday that an average of 230,000 viewers watched Benavidez’s 11th-round, technical-knockout victory over Ronald Ellis. Viewership peaked at 260,000 early in the scheduled 12-round main event between Benavidez and Ellis at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Terrell Gausha was determined to atone for a regrettable performance in this very venue just six months ago. The 2012 U.S. Olympian and former title challenger remained true to his word, scoring a 2nd round knockout of Jamontay Clark in their junior middleweight crossroads bout.
Returning to the ring was always the primary objective for Jamontay Clark. Whomever stands opposite corner was never going to be the issue. For this fight, it just so happens to be another Ohio boxer as the Cincinnati-bred southpaw faces Cleveland’s Terrell Gausha (21-2-1, 10KOs), a 2012 U.S. Olympian and former title challenger.
