James Martin: record, next fight and profile →
James Martin scored a six-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Roudly Lolo in a junior middleweight bout that highlighted a five-bout card at the 2300 Arena. The card was promoted by King's Promotions.
James Bernadin took an eight-round unanimous Decision over Kenny Robles to capture the NBA Americas Junior Welterweight title in the featured bout at The 2300 Arena.
Vito Mielnicki Jr. is hoping to stir up some momentum as he heads into the most prominent fight of his nascent career. The 19-year-old welterweight prospect from Roseland, New Jersey is set to appear as the Fox headliner against Nicholas DeLomba (16-3, 5 KOs)
A combination of Olympic competition on NBC and three low-profile fights led to FOX’s lowest-rated boxing broadcast Saturday night since the network began paying for Premier Boxing Champions’ content late in 2018. Nielsen Media Research revealed Tuesday that the three-bout “FOX PBC Fight Night” telecast drew an average of 621,000 viewers. A peak audience of 696,000 tuned in toward the end of an upset in the main event – Jonnie Rice’s fifth-round, technical-knockout victory over heavily favored Michael Coffie at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
NEWARK, New Jersey – Joey Spencer wouldn’t allow James Martin to ruin his perfect record, too. Spencer got off to a strong start and fended off Martin’s minor rally in the middle rounds to win their eight-round junior middleweight match by unanimous decision Saturday night at Prudential Center.
NEWARK, New Jersey – James Martin damaged and helped salvage FOX’s tripleheader all within a matter of hours Friday afternoon. An overweight Martin was removed from his scheduled immediate rematch with Vito Mielnicki Jr. before their weigh-in at the Doubletree Hilton hotel. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that later Friday afternoon Martin agreed to face unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Joey Spencer in the opener of FOX’s broadcast.
NEWARK, New Jersey – Vito Mielnicki Jr. is done with James Martin, just not in the way that the welterweight prospect had hoped. Martin was way over the contracted weight of 147 pounds for what was supposed to be an immediate rematch Saturday night at Prudential Center. Once Mielnicki’s team learned Friday morning that Martin wouldn’t even come close to making 147 pounds, Mielnicki agreed to instead face Noah Kidd in the eight-round co-feature of a “FOX PBC Fight Night” broadcast scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EDT.
By Keith Idec - LYNDHURST, New Jersey – Hindsight has taught Vito Mielnicki Jr. that haste can cost you dearly. If he had it to do over again, Mielnicki would’ve passed on returning to the ring April 17 in Los Angeles. The welterweight prospect, then just 18 years old, fought February 27 and although he won by third-round knockout, his handlers informed him that he could’ve come back later than April 17 if he wanted more time to rest and train.
Michael Polite Coffie has landed one of the names on his wish list as he prepares for his biggest fight to date. BoxingScene.com has learned that Brooklyn’s Coffie will next face former heavyweight title challenger Gerald Washington, one of three recognizable names that he called out following his third-round knockout of Darmani Rock earlier this year. The bout will be featured on the July 31 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox, airing live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Less than a year after graduating high school, Vito Mielnicki Jr. was taught his most valuable lesson in the ring. The rising prospect from Roseland, New Jersey suffered a bump in the road, as he was outboxed by Philadelphia’s James Martin via majority decision over eight rounds. Judge Max DeLuca saw the contest 76-76, overruled by judges Dr. Lou Moret (77-75) and Alejandro Rochin (79-73) in favor of Martin in their junior middleweight bout Saturday evening at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
