MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS, NV - During an interview with Jamel Herring (20-2), Top Rank chairman Bob Arum stepped in and advised BoxingScene.com that the Marine veteran will return to the ring on Veteran’s Day weekend, which falls in the second week of November.

The 33-year-old captured the WBO super featherweight title last month when he outboxed Masayuki Ito in Kissimmee, Florida.  The final scores for Herring’s unanimous decision victory were 118-110 twice and 116-112.

Arum also said that they would try to place the fight at a military base but noted that it is very difficult to get clearance to hold such an event at a secured facility.

With the victory over Ito, Herring has now won 4 fights in a row. Prior to his current win streak, Herring had lost 2 out of 3 when he was with Premier Boxing Champions.

Herring is trained by Brian “Bomac” McIntyre who also trains top pound-for-pound fighter Terence Crawford and several other fighters.

WBC super featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt was in attendance for Herring’s title winning effort and a unification bout is a possibility for November.
