Youtube star turned boxer Jake “The Problem Child” Paul will be taking a real risk when he faces heavyweight prospect Hasim Rahman Jr., son of former two-time heavyweight world champion Hasim Rahman.

The fight takes place on Saturday, August 6, in the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Their bout will take place at the cruiserweight limit over the eight round distance.

Rahman Jr. (12-1, 6 KOs) steps in on late notice to replace light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury, who was pulled from the fight after failing to secure the ability to enter the United States.

Paul (5-0, 4 KOs), with only a single amateur fight, faces the first pro boxer of his career.

“Fury fumbled the bag for the second time in a row and went into hiding, so I’m going to step up, again, and take on a new opponent on short notice,” said Paul.

“Nothing but respect for Hasim Rahman Jr., a professional heavyweight boxer with a 12-1 record who comes from a legendary boxing family. He’s bigger, he’s stronger and he’s more experienced. But guess what? I’m crazier. I’m raising the stakes and on August 6, I will get my respect under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden.”

Paul made his pro debut in January 2020, when he knocked out Youtube rival AnEsonGib in one round. And then gained quick stoppages over NBA veteran Nate Robinson and MMA fighter Ben Askren.

His two fights in 2021 came against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley. Paul won an eight round decision in the first encounter, but brutally knocked Woodley out in their December rematch.

Rahman and Paul were involved in a heated sparring session two years ago, where the two had to be separated after words were exchanged in the aftermath of the spar.
