World Boxing Organization super welterweight champion Jaime Munguia is only waiting for confirmation from his promoter, Zanfer, regarding the final details pertaining to his next world title defense.
Munguia is going to defend his title against Japan's Takeshi Inoue on January 26 in Texas or California.
Munguía visited Mexico City in the company of the super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Miguel Berchelt, and executives of the Zanfer, who promote both of them.
Munguia had a very busy 2018, with four fights in the ring and he plans to have an even busier time in 2019.
"[My next fight] would be on January 26 with Takeshi Inoue (13-0-1, 7 KO's) and probably Texas or California, but we still do not know for sure. We hope that in December we'll have the details," said Munguia (31-0 record and 26 knockouts) to ESPN Deportes.
"I think he is a good opponent, unbeaten Japanese. We know that the Japanese always go with everything, they are like us Mexicans they die on the line. We have to be careful with him, but we have studied him well and I think I can win."
In winning that fight, then Jaime would have to make the mandatory defense with Dennis Hogan, and then he would love the idea of ??unifying with Jarrett Hurd or Jermell Charlo, or maybe the big fight with Gennady Golovkin or Canelo Álvarez.
"My life did change a lot, now I have to walk up and down, with interviews, a lot of work and most of all I have improved in the gym. It is the moment to throw more in training camp, to be more concentrated," Munguia said.
"I think and I hope 2019 will be a year with many successes. Maybe I would like to unify, we will be looking at that, talking to my promoter, but I plan to do four fights."
