Jackson Marinez: record, next fight and profile →
The busiest man in boxing is bringing five of his fighters to Saturday’s card at Phoenix's Footprint Center, ranging from undeniable prospects to a veteran contender to a recently beaten title finalist.
LAS VEGAS - Shakur Stevenson came in well below the lightweight limit Wednesday afternoon for his 12-round, 135-pound title fight against Edwin De Los Santos on Thursday night.
LAS VEGAS – Frank Martin was certain while preparing to box Michel Rivera on Saturday night that he had already beaten a better Dominican lightweight contender this year. Jackson Marinez already had two losses on his record when Martin stopped him in the 10th round July 9 at Alamodome

Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas - Unbeaten rising star Frank Martin (16-0, 12 KOs) showed the full complement of skills that has made him one of the most talked about up-and-comers in the 135-pound division, as he delivered a methodical destruction on his way to stopping Jackson Marinez (19-3, 7 KOs) in the 10th and final round.
SAN ANTONIO – Jackson Marinez gave Frank Martin just the type of work Martin expected for nearly nine rounds Saturday night. Then Martin demonstrated what separates them.
SAN ANTONIO – Ricardo Nunez is a harder puncher than Jackson Marinez. The Panamanian contender has produced 91 percent of his wins by knockout (23-3, 21 KOs). Nunez also has recorded back-to-back knockouts of Alfredo Santiago (14-2, 6 KOs) and Richard Solano (26-3-2, 14 KOs, 1 NC) since Gervonta Davis stopped him in the second round of their WBA 130-pound title fight almost three years ago at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore.
It is not uncommon to hear stories of prizefighters picking up the sport as a child. Anywhere from ages 8-10, fighters begin their journey by going into the gym and eventually fighting as an amateur.
