Jack Catterall: record, next fight and profile →
Jack Catterall will warm-up for his world title shot later this month. The Chorley super lightweight has been out of action for 12 months since he won a unanimous decision out in Dubai. Catterall, 27, outpointed Timo Schwarzkopf over 10 rounds at Caesars Palace and will box again on November 28, exclusively live on BT Sport.
IT SEEMS THAT the cat – or rather the King, in this case – has been let out of the bag over our intention to add the heavyweight champion of the world to our December 5 card at the Royal Albert Hall, which will also serve to partly mark my 40 years as a licenced promoter.
Jack Catterall has agreed a step-aside deal to allow Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez to box for the undisputed world super lightweight title. Catterall is the longstanding WBO mandatory contender and had told he would get his shot at Ramirez, the WBO and WBC champion, next.
Arum plans to put the fight together to take place in early 2021. While Taylor (17-0, 13 KOs) is free and clear of any mandatory obligations that would interfere with the fight, that is not the case with Ramirez (26-0, 17 KOs). He is saddled with another mandatory defense against England’s unbeaten Jack Catterall.
This past Saturday night, at the MGM Grand Conference Center, Jose Zepeda scored a dramatic fifth round knockout of Ivan Baranchyk. The junior welterweight fight was an absolute war and saw a total of eight knockdowns - with each boxer going down four times.

Josh Taylor says he believes Jose Ramirez is having doubts about going ahead with a fight against him for the undisputed world super-lightweight title and Taylor’s destruction of Apinun Khongsong on Saturday night in unlikely to have eased any of his concerns.
JACK CATTERALL IS all in favour of the prospect of an undisputed world super lightweight blockbuster becoming a reality, but one involving himself and Josh Taylor, rather than Jose Ramirez.
Frank Warren, promoter for undefeated Jack Catterall, plans to push for his boxer to receive a mandatory crack at WBO, WBC junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez. Ramirez is hoping to land a full division unification with WBA, IBF champion Josh Taylor, who later this month will make a mandatory defense. Catterall is the WBO's mandatory challenger to Ramirez.
Jack Catterall is finally set to have his chance to become world champion – and the unbeaten star is ready to seize the opportunity with both hands. The WBO recently announced that mandatory challenger Catterall will be the next opponent for WBO and WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez, following Ramirez’s win over Viktor Postol in Las Vegas last weekend.
