By Cliff Rold - It feels like there were more. It turns out there have been eight. That’s the number of fighters from Ghana who have won one for the major titles in boxing. There have been plenty of contenders over the years but apparently the number who heard the words, “and new…” in a contest for one of the four major sanctioning body titles is relatively small. It felt like there should be m...

After impressing Bob Arum in his last outing in America, Isaac Dogboe wants to make another statement on this weekend's Top Rank card. On Saturday night, the 23-year-old makes his first defence of the WBO Super-Bantamweight crown he won from Jessie Magdaleno live on BoxNation.
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) announced the officials for two WBO World title bouts to be held this Saturday, August 25th in Arizona. In the main event, WBO Lightweight (135 lbs) World Champion Raymundo Beltrán, from México, will face WBO ranked number two José Pedraza, from Puerto Rico.
Tucked just off one of the busiest districts in Tokyo, a three-storied building stands alone unassumingly at the end of a Kitazawa street covered in a clean green paint. To get there you’d first have to walk by the state of the art facility that competes for a slightly different clientele just yards before it with its training pool peering through their glass windows. Passing that air-conditioned establishment by and walking up to the Kaneko Gym is a choice that isn’t taken lightly and especially not in a heat wave of this magnitude that has already claimed several lives.
Ray Beltran and Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe will head to the desert on Aug. 25 for their first title defenses. In the main event at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, Beltran, who resides in nearby Phoenix, will defend the WBO lightweight title against Jose “Sniper” Pedraza, a former junior lightweight world champion looking to bring another world title home to Puerto Rico. And, in the all-action co-feature, Dogboe will defend the WBO junior featherweight title against Hidenori Otake.
On April 28th, Isaac Dogboe showed Jessie Magdaleno no brotherly love in taking his WBO super bantamweight title with an 11th round stoppage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a trip to the canvas in the first round, Dogboe turned things around by knocking down Magdaleno in the fifth and then twice more in the 11th before the fight was waved off.
WBA Champion Danny Roman (25-2-1. 9 KOs) is just days removed from his second successful title defense, yet he is already looking ahead to his next fight and he would like it to be against one of the other belt holders.
WBO super bantamweight world champion Isaac Dogboe (19-0, 13 KOs) is looking for big game - and more world titles. Standing at only 5'2, Dogboe still intends to move up several times over. He arrived on the scene back in April, when he traveled to the United States to score an eleventh round knockout victory over undefeated champion Jessie Magdaleno. Dogboe went down in the first round, but rallied to drop Magdaleno three times for the knockout win.
