Isaac Cruz Gonzalez: record, next fight and profile →
Gervonta "Tank" Davis was a very interested observer in last Saturday's shocker, when Teofimo Lopez was upset by huge underdog George Kambosos at the Hulu Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden.
Gervonta Davis initially indicated that he considers Isaac Cruz a tougher opponent than Rolando Romero. The unbeaten Baltimore native quickly corrected himself, though. The more he thought about it, Davis couldn’t say with certainty that Romero’s replacement is better than the undefeated fighter he was supposed to face December 5 in Los Angeles.
By Keith Idec - LOS ANGELES – Floyd Mayweather executed game plans better than any boxer, matchmaker or promoter of this generation. The undefeated Hall-of-Famer followed those carefully crafted blueprints to winning world titles in five divisions and becoming boxing’s long-reigning pound-for-pound king inside the ring. Following the financial plans he and adviser Al Haymon designed also made Mayweather the wealthiest fighter in the sport’s history by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Isaac Cruz delivered the most memorable knockout of his six-year pro career on one of Gervonta Davis’ undercards last year. The Mexican lightweight’s vicious first-round demolition of Diego Magdaleno in October 2020 was what first established him as a potential opponent for the undefeated Davis. Thirteen months after recording that sensational stoppage at Alamodome in San Antonio, a confident Cruz believes his power will be the determining factor in the outcome of his upcoming shot at Davis’ WBA world lightweight title.
By Cliff Rold - Teofimo Lopez, coming off a career making win over Vasyl Lomachenko, was going to continue his march to superstardom last weekend, going through long delayed mandatory contender George Kambosos and on to bigger things.

LAS VEGAS – By the time he finished fighting Isaac Cruz on June 19, Francisco Vargas’ face was a bloody mess. Such grotesque consequences aren’t unusual when Vargas fights, but the bullish, shorter Cruz’s continual use of his head was partially the cause of the scar tissue around Vargas’ eyes opening up yet again. Vargas had smaller cuts above both eyes before another accidental clash of heads caused a gruesome gash over Vargas’ right eye with just over 30 seconds to go in their 10-round lightweight bout at Toyota Center in Houston.
Among the things that Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has proven since advancing to main event status is his ability to draw a crowd no matter where he performs.
