According to recent reports on BoxingScene.com, the mega-fight between Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez is close to finally coming to fruition. The fight will likely land in Las Vegas on either the 7th or 21st of November.

Golden Boy Promotions partner/shareholder Bernard Hopkins is also very excited about the fight that many observers feel is a close to even fight. Regardless of who leaves the ring with his hand raised, Hopkins feels the fans will be the real winners.

"Oh my God. Wow what a fight. I mean Canelo is with us but that's a 50-50 fight. It might be 60-40 Cotto's way because of experience. Some people might be a little shocked because I'm saying this but I keep it real. That's why HBO hired me to do shows. The Kovalev fight (in March) and in a couple weeks at the Mandalay Bay, yes I will be doing that again (for Kovalev vs. Mohammedi)," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.

"I want to be as honest and as brutally honest if I have to be, if I see something that I disagree with. I don't care what side I am on but the bottom line is I think the fans are going to win when it's all said and done."

Even though Hopkins hinted that Cotto may have a small edge in the fight, the future Hall of Famer made it clear that he is backing Canelo and that he is very capable of winning the mega-bout that has been years in the making.

"Whether Canelo wins - which I am hoping and I am pretty sure he has the tools and I know he has the skills to do it - is it going to be a cakewalk? Is it going to be handed to him? Hell no. It's a tough, real, great fight," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.
