Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing staff couldn’t have been more eager to release details of its June 25 event.

For all of the blockbuster events involving the UK and US-based outfit, its upcoming card in San Antonio is one that has already resonated with the sport’s hardcore fanbase. Headlining the show, local hero Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

(15-0, 10KOs) makes the first defense of his WBC junior bantamweight title versus former two-time champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43KOs).

The scheduled twelve-round bout tops a four-title fight event from Tech Point Arena in San Antonio, coming in an era when most shows are lucky to feature one legitimate title fight. Included on the bill, WBC flyweight titlist Julio Cesar Martinez (18-2, 14KOs; 2NC)—a potential future foe for Rodriguez—faces mandatory challenger McWilliams Arroyo (21-4, 16KOs; 1NC) in a rematch to their two-round No-Contest from last November 19.

“That card, it’s not a trade card but it’s a card for true boxing fans,” Hearn told BoxingScene.com. “The loudest people on social media are boxing fans. We see the retweet numbers and stuff like that. People in boxing see this as an incredible fight card.”

Also on the card, undisputed welterweight queen Jessica McCaskill (11-2, 4KOs) defends her slew of titles versus Monterrey’s Alma Ibarra (10-1, 5KOs). Opening the four-fight telecast, unified WBA/IBF junior featherweight titlist Murodjon Akhmadaliev (10-0, 8KOs) of Uzbekistan faces LA-based streaking contender Ronny Rios (33-3, 16KOs).

Any of the four bouts could serve as its own main event on DAZN or any other platform. The decision by Matchroom Boxing to stack this show came on the heels of staging recent blockbuster events such as the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano-headlined April 30 show at Madison Square Garden in New York City—with the main event remaining the frontrunner for 2022 Fight of the Year—and Dmitry Bivol’s upset win over pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to defend his WBA light heavyweight title atop a May 7 DAZN Pay-Per-View from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Ultimately, a lot of what we do is built around servicing hardcore fight fans on DAZN,” noted Hearn. “It’s an incredible product for hardcore fans. They see we get Taylor-Serrano, Canelo-Bivol, now we have this June 25 card with Bam. That’s all part of the process. That hardcore fight fan is a massive part of the DAZN business model and we’re pleased to deliver a show that fans clearly love when you see the feedback.”
