Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom is looking ahead after the bombshell reveal that Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez had departed for a multi-fight agreement with Premier Boxing Champions.

Hearn, who has an exclusive content agreement with streaming service DAZN, had worked with Canelo for six of his last seven fights. And nine of Canelo's last ten fights have been carried by DAZN or DAZN Pay-Per-View.

However, it appears that Canelo's next three fights will be with PBC, who have an exclusive content deal with Showtime.

Canelo's first fight of the deal is going to take place on September 16, with WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo as the likely opponent.

Hearn explained that his company had no fights in the tank for Canelo - and the veteran promoter admits that PBC is having a tremendous year, after their company made fights like Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford, and now Canelo vs. Charlo.

Canelo was gunning to have a rematch with WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, who won a twelve round decision in their May 2022 showdown. The two sides were unable to agree on the money and weight.

Since then, Canelo retained his undisputed super middleweight crown by picking up unanimous decision wins over Gennadiy Golovkin and John Ryder.

With PBC, Canelo has options like Charlo, David Benavidez, David Morrell, and Demetrius Andrade.

“I think it's a good move for him. Now we have to look at that huge pot of money for Canelo fights and bring big fights to DAZN. 2022 was Matchroom's year, 2023 right now is PBC's year. We wanna win," Hearn told Boxing Social.

"Look we always want to promote Canelo Alvarez. We never made him an offer and we didn't have a fight for him for September. We were asked to make the Bivol fight that wasn't possible.

"I don't know the details [of the new deal], whether it's two fight, is it three fight? But he's got to make his move. I spoke to him last night, I wished him all the best. We've done [six] of his last [seven] fights, it's been an amazing run. I'm sure we'll work together again but now, he has to make his move."
