Eddie Hearn, promoter for WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, expects the World Boxing Council to now order a fight with mandatory challenger Ryan Garcia.

On Saturday night at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, Garcia scored a sensational knockout of another Hearn promoted fighter, 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell.

"You just boxed a final eliminator to fight [Haney]..fight will now be ordered - great fight," Hearn stated to Garcia.

The victory gave Garcia the WBC's interim-lightweight title.

Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, recently made it clear that Haney would have two mandatory obligations to satisfy - a defense against Javier Fortuna and the Garcia-Campbell winner.

Garcia became the first man to stop Campbell, after landing a hook to the body that send him down for the full count in the seventh round.

The unbeaten Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) had to deal with adversity early on, when Campbell dropped him hard with a left hand in the second round.

Garcia was able to bounce back, as he recovered by the following round.

As the fight continued, Garcia reclaimed control and had Campbell in serious trouble at the end of the fifth round. Campbell was holding his own in the sixth and during the seventh, when Garcia clipped him to the liver - a shot that crumbled the British contender to his knees in pain.

It remains to be seen if Haney will face Garcia next - or take care of the Fortuna obligation first.
