Former two-division world champion David Haye would like to see Anthony Joshua move forward with a rematch against Dillian Whyte.

Back in 2015, Joshua knocked Whyte out in seven rounds.

Last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, Joshua snapped a two-fight losing streak by winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Jermaine Franklin.

Back in November, Whyte won a tough twelve round majority decision over Franklin.

Haye believes the stage is now set for the rematch.

"I'd like to see him in there with Dillian next, that would be nice, that makes perfect sense. They both went points with [Franklin], that's a nice all British clash, London derby. I like that," Haye told IFL TV.

After his most recent win, Joshua called for a domestic blockbuster with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

However, Joshua's win over Franklin was not very impressive - and not the kind of performance to create a big buzz for a showdown with Fury.

According to Haye, Joshua needs a much better performance - against someone like Whyte - to create the perfect storm for a Fury title shot.

"I want to see him in with Dillian next. That's not the performance to go in there with Tyson Fury. If he went out there and blitzed him in a couple of rounds, OK but he needs a better performance than that to jump in with Tyson, in my opinion," Haye said.

"I'd like to see him in there with Dillian, where you know what it's going to be like, it's going to be fireworks. That's a high-profile fight, lot's of pressure someone that's coming in that can punch. That will get everyone's juices flowing. And then the winner of that can look at Fury. But Fury's looking at fighting Usyk anyway, or is he?"
