Hatton: Senchenko is a Better Fight Than Katsidis

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Ricky Hatton has confirmed that his comeback fight on November 24 will be against Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko. Hatton, who is coming out of retirement following a three-and-a-half-year exile from the ring, announced that 35-year-old Senchenko would be his first opponent in a welterweight clash at the Manchester Evening News Arena. Largely unknown on British shores, Senchenko, like Hatton, is a former world welterweight champion, losing the belt in his last bout - his first career loss - to American Paulie Malignaggi.

Australian lightweight Michael Katsidis would relish taking on Ricky Hatton in Manchester, according to his agent. Hatton will make his comeback to the ring in Manchester on November 24 - three years after losing his IBO light-welterweight title in Las Vegas - and Katsidis is being tipped to be his opponent. Katsidis has lost four of his last five bouts but would make a tricky opponent for Hatton on his comeback - his career record is 34 fights, 28 wins with 23 by knockout which includes wins over English duo Kevin Mitchell and Graham Earl, but a defeat at the hands of Scottish world champion Ricky Burns.

According to several UK sources, Michael Katsidis is likely going to be Ricky Hatton’s opponent for his November 24 comeback at the Manchester Arena. Katsidis, 32, was beaten on his last visit to Britain when Scot Ricky Burns out-pointed him for the WBO interim lightweight title in November.
