Guillermo Rigondeaux returned to the ring after a near 11-month layoff, cruising to a 10-round decision win over Drian Francisco in a super bantamweight bout mercifully shortened 10 rounds Saturday evening at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scores were 100-90 (twice) and 97-93 in favor of Rigondeaux, who - along with Francisco - accepted placement on the HBO Pay-Per-View-televised card on barely one week's notice.

It showed, as action was slow out the gate and never increased beyond that speed. Rigondeaux was content with jabbing, moving and clinching his way to victory, taking advantage of his opponent's lack of skill level.

Rigondeaux advances to 16-0 (10KOs), winning his first fight under the Roc Nation Sports banner. The dream fight for the reigning super bantamweight king is a showdown with Vasyl Lomachenko, a bout that would represent the first time ever that a pair of two-time Olympic Gold medalists faced each other in the ring.

Saturday's showdown didn't do very much to enhance Rigondeaux' marketability, or his demands for a payday greater than $1.5 million for such a fight.
