By Rafael Soto

In a huge upset, Guadalupe "Lupita" Martinez showed impressive determination a shocking unanimous decision over Zulina ¨La Loba¨ Munoz to snatch the world championship of the World Boxing Council in an exciting fight in the Arena Oasis in Cancun, Quintana Roo.

The fight was televised by Box Azteca and promoted by Zanfer, Cancun Boxing and Boxing Time Promotions.

The fight was intense, and from the first round "Lupita" Martinez (15-9, 5 KOs) came out without any respect for the champion Munoz (49-2-2, 28 KOs), who was firing with both hands as the crowd was screaming for her.

Martinez took a lot of big punches from Munoz, who connected especially to the body.

The defeat prevented Munoz from breaking the 115 pound record of of eleven defenses.

It was the night of Guadalupe Martinez, who saw the judges hand down cards of 95-94 and 96-93 by two.

"I am happy, I fulfilled my dream of being world champion, most did not give me any chance, but my preparation, my heart and hunger to be champion gave me results. Zulina is a great fighter, very strong, I connected well, but tonight no one stopped me, it was a great fight," said the new champion.

Munoz is hoping to secure a rematch.

"It was a great fight, I ask for the rematch, it was Lupita's night and we will surely recover the title, we will get back up, we are warriors," said Munoz

Also on the card, Mexican-American Roberto "Amenaza" García obtained a unanimous decision over eight rounds against Nestor ¨Chispa¨ García in a fight that excited the public in the Arena Oasis and took place at super welterweight. The judges' scores were 77-74, 76-75 and 76-75 all in favor of Garcia.
