A mandatory fight between Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) and Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28KOs) could be ordered at the 94th Convention of the World Boxing Association.

According to WBA Vice President Gilberto Mendoza Jr., the sanctioning body will examine the middleweight situation at the convention, which runs from December 13th to the 19th in Panama. He says an order, outlining the entire middleweight division, will be issued.

Golovkin, who holds the IBF/IBO titles, is the WBA's "super champion" at 160-pounds. Jacobs holds the "regular" title.

There is also WBA interim-champion Alfonso Blanco, who is asking for a shot at Jacobs. And this Saturday's fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Spike O'Sullivan will be a WBA final eliminator.

The WBA's expected resolution should explain the pecking order of everything and the anticipated fights.

Golovkin-Jacobs is now the biggest fight in the division after Saturday's outcome, when Jacobs stopped previously undefeated Peter Quillin in one round. There could be network issues with Golovkin fighting on HBO and Jacobs being a top name on Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions.

If the fight is actually ordered and it goes to a purse bid, it will be interesting to see what happens if Jacobs' powerful manager Al Haymon comes out on top. It's unlikely to see Golovkin fighting outside of HBO, but vacating the WBA belt would go against his goal of unifying the entire division.
