LOS ANGELES - Undefeated super featherweight prospect, Oscar Duarte (4-0-1, 3 KOs) of Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico has signed a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions it was announced today. The 20-year-old, who is managed by famous Mexican actor Gabriel Soto, will make his debut as a Golden Boy Promotions fighter on Feb. 19 at LA FIGHT CLUB at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
LOS ANGELES - Genaro "El Conde" Gamez, the number one rated amateur lightweight in the U.S., has signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions today. The 20-year-old, a national and international champion at 132, who was a member of the 2013-2015 USA Boxing Elite Men's National Team, will begin his professional career at super featherweight.
All fighters took to the scales for the 2016 season premiere of Golden Boy Promotions’ “LA Fight Club” series, which takes place Friday evening at Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Headlining the show, East LA’s own Julian Ramirez faces veteran trialhorse Chris Martin in a schedule 10-round clash. Ramirez (15-0, 8KOs) weighed in at 127.4 lbs., while Martin (28-6-3, 9KOs) – who hails from San Diego tipped the scales at a trim and ready 125.4 lbs. The contracted limit was 126 lbs., with a regional title once at stake. Ramirez not only came in heavy but was unable to get down to the necessary limit. All parties agreed to proceed with what is now a non-title fight, although the unbeaten prospect will have to pay a portion of his purse to Martin and the California State Athletic Commission.
“Why don't more (unbeaten) fighters face each other?” That is a question that boxing fans have asked often, but it seems that questions is being asked more lately. That question seems to be directed at a few fighters who are perceived to be protecting their '0' more than take chances against solid opposition. Julian Ramirez is an unbeaten fighter and still has a ways before he can call himself a legit contender. But the 22-year-old is up to the task of one day facing unbeaten fighters. He will face his toughest challenge to date Friday night when he fights former fringe contender Christopher Martin at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles. The 10 round bout will top a Golden Boy Promotions card and will air live on Estrella TV, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT. RingTVLive will also air the fight, along with preliminary action, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. PT.
LOS ANGELES – Southpaw amateur standout, Alexis Rocha of Santa Ana, Calif. has signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions today and will make his highly anticipated professional debut on the March 4 edition of LA FIGHT CLUB in downtown Los Angeles. The six-time national champion will be following in the footsteps of older brother and current WBC Silver Featherweight Champion, Ronny Rios, who signed on with Golden Boy Promotions early in his career in 2009.

LOS ANGELES – Golden Boy Promotions today announced that it has added top featherweight contender Andrew “El Chango” Cancio (16-3-2, 12 KOs) of Blythe, Calif. to its stable of elite fighters. Cancio has long been considered one of California’s rising stars, but after several starts and stops, he showed what he can do against boxing warrior Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado in December of 2015, scoring a stirring knockout victory.
The revolution won't be televised, but David Lemieux is poised to return to the middleweight mix. Next up for the former titlist is a March 12 clash with James de la Rosa, to take place at Olympia Theatre in Montreal, Canada. News of the bout and location was confirmed to BoxingScene.com by Camille Estephan, Lemieux's manager. The bout will not be carried by HBO, by whom the charismatic boxer from Montreal is owed a fight- just not his next one.
