Earlier today Top Rank CEO had Twitter in a frenzy when he tweeted "On behalf of Zurdo Ramirez we would accept challenge from GGG to fight for Zurdos (sic) super middleweight title."

Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (37-0) last fought in February when he knocked out Ahmed Habib in six rounds in an ESPN televised main event in Texas. Ramirez holds the WBO super middleweight title that he won in 2016 when he dominated Arthur Abraham in Las Vegas.

Gennady "Triple G" Golvokin is scheduled to face Canelo Alvarez on May 5th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas but the fight is unlikely to happen due to Alvarez testing positive for the banned substance clenbuterol on February 17th and 20th. Canelo was temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and is scheduled to have a meeting with the Commission on April 18th where he will have to present compelling evidence to avoid a full suspension.

Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler has applied for a permit to promote their own event in Las Vegas and stated that Triple GGG plans on fighting on May 5th with or without Alvarez.

Ramirez has been interested in facing Golovkin for a long time. Ramirez and his team are very familiar with Golovkin and used to train alongside him in Big Bear, Calf. when Zurdo was a middleweight prospect.

"We have wanted this fight for over a year. We are ready. Zurdo is always in good shape and is always in the gym. He wants to fight the best fighters out there," said Ramirez's trainer Hector Zapari.

Zapari revealed that Zurdo is scheduled to return to the ring on June 30th but said that they wouldn't have any problem with fighting on May 5th.

"Zurdo is ready to fight GGG whenever and wherever.  Just make the fight happen.  We have wanted it for a long time and are ready for it. We can fight him on May 5th or June 30th. Let's give the fans a great show," Zapari told BoxingScene.com.
