Garcia, Peterson, Lee Make Weight; Quillin Heavy
The recurring theme in the Premier Boxing Champions series is that belts don’t matter. So far, making weight doesn’t seem to be a principle priority either.

This Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, undefeated Danny "Swift" Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) is promising to put forth an impressive performance over Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) in their Premier Boxing Champions televised fight on NBC, which begins at 8:30 p.m. ET. The televised co-feature will have Andy Lee defending his WBO middleweight title against former WBO king, unbeaten Peter Quillin. Like many in his generation, Lamont Peterson never really knew what it felt like to grow up with boxing on free TV. The 31-year old junior welterweight was still in his teen years by the time the sport was all but phased out from the free networks, unable—and unwilling—to contend with the license fees offered by regional and pay-cable outlets. Like many currently under Al Haymon’s advisory banner, Peterson now has a chance to help right that wrong and help attract a new generation of fans. The reigning 140 lb. titlist faces unbeaten World lineal junior welterweight king Danny Garcia this Saturday evening at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The non-title fight—which takes place at a maximum catchweight of 143 lbs.—will air live on NBC in the network’s second installment of Premier Boxing Champions series.

Danny Garcia has vowed to "kick the butt" of Lamont Peterson when the two world champions clash in Brooklyn this weekend. Garcia (29-0 17KOs) is the current WBC and WBA super world light-welterweight champion and even though Peterson holds the IBF strap, this bout on Saturday night is a non-title catchweight contest made at 143lbs. However, 27-year-old Garcia - who stopped Briton Amir Khan in four rounds back in July 2012- insists it remains an important clash and one he has prepared fully for. "It's a big fight and it's the fight that the fans wanted. We're going to give the fans a great night of boxing," he said.

By Jake Donovan - It goes without saying that 2014 was a year that Danny Garcia would rather forget. It’s not often that you can say that of a year in which you were able to fight—and win—twice, remain unbeaten and on top of the division you already served as king heading into the year. For Garcia, though, it was a year in which the worst beatings he took were in the court of public opinion. Six months after posting a 12-round win over Lucas Matthysse to claim the vacant World 140 lb. championship, Garcia struggled mightily in a controversial points win over Mauricio Herrera last March in Puerto Rico. The fight was followed up by what became a running joke in the industry, a 2nd round knockout of Rod Salka—who moved up more than two divisions in fighting weight from junior lightweight—in a mismatch at a catchweight, atop an August 9 show littered with mismatches. As far as Garcia is concerned, there’s no time like the present. The past was Garcia and Lamont Peterson sharing a bill on August 9, without the promise of moving forward with a head-on collision. The present has the pair throwing down this weekend, with their 143 lb. catchweight headlining live in primetime on free-to-air NBC from Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “I think this is…out of the list of champions that I faced before, I think this is even bigger for my legacy because here's the champion,” Garcia (29-0, 17KOs) insists of Peterson. “He's faced great opponents, he's faced great fighters too. I think stylistically this is going to be a great fight, and it's big for my legacy, so I've got to go in there and make sure I go in there and hand him my business.”

WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny "Swift" Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) is ready for his PBC on NBC main event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The second installment of PBC on NBC begins at 8:30 p.m. ET. Garcia is not worried about the skill level of Peterson. He believes that once his power punches stated landing on Peterson's face, the IBF champion will forget about skill and begin looking for a Plan B.
