After being forced to go more than three months without staging a boxing event, Top Rank will now move forward with its second show in a span of 48-hours. Just two days after Shakur Stevenson and his supporting cast helped welcome boxing to a televised audience in the United States, Jessie Magdaleno and Yenifel Vicente are prepared to do the same. For now, the headliner is contingent upon Jessie Magdaleno shedding slight excess weight for their scheduled 10-round featherweight clash, which airs live on ESPN from MGM Grand Conference Center Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Robeisy Ramirez’s stunning defeat in his pro debut quickly knocked him off track for an eventual pro showdown with Shakur Stevenson. Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. signed Ramirez to a promotional contract in part to match him against Stevenson at some point because Ramirez beat Stevenson in the bantamweight gold-medal match at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Cuba’s Ramirez, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, will attempt to continue rebuilding his reputation by winning his third straight professional fight on Stevenson’s undercard June 9 in Las Vegas.
