According to Frank Warren, who along with Top Rank is the promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, says it's looking very unlikely that we'll see a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder in July.
Last month, Fury secured a sensational stoppage win over Wilder in their anticipated rematch to capture the WBC title.
Fury dropped Wilder twice and stopped him in the seventh round at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Afterwards, Wilder exercised his contractual right to an immediate trilogy fight.
The promoters were targeted a date of July 18th, also to take place in Las Vegas.
But due to the coronovirus pandemic, that fight might not take place until a later date. Fight cards all over the world have been canceled in March, April and even in early May.
Promoters are hoping to get back on track in June, but nobody knows how long the escalating situation will continue. At the moment Las Vegas is locked down until at least mid-April.
The fight is going to be a pay-per-view event and it's hard to start the promotional wheels on a pay-per-view while all of this is going on.
Warren, based on the current coronavirus situations in the United States and the UK, believes the fight will get pushed back to a later date in the year.
"I am very doubtful that will happen in July, very doubtful," Warren exclusively told Metro.co.uk.
"The trilogy fight was going to be in Las Vegas, but America could be heading for a serious crisis. For a nation that spends so much on arms, you’d think they’d spend that money on free healthcare. Potentially anyone you meet over there could have coronavirus. We can’t finalise any plans for this fight while this is all going on."
