  • Comments Thread For: Manuel Charr Awaits Travel Visa For Scheduled Jan. 29 Title Fight Versus Trevor Bryan

Only a travel visa stands in the way of a heavyweight pairing more than two years in the making. Manuel Charr is on target to make the first defense of his secondary WBA heavyweight belt, as he is due to face interim WBA titlist Trevor Bryan in a long-overdue title consolidation match. The fight is tentatively scheduled to take place January 29 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, marking the first event with Hall of Fame promoter Don King as the lead since August 2015.

Winner fights Fres Oquendo because of US court order? Or is Fres retired?

I think he retired - or at least he appears as inactive on BR.

A moment we have all been waiting for. Time to clear my schedule to watch this one. Based on what I saw of both of them, I'd favor Charr.

This is great news. We finally will have only 2 WBA champions. Looking at the fighters Charr has the huge edge in experience but 2 fights that I seen of Bryan he looked pretty decent. Obviously took out an aging Flores but at the time when he fought Rossy he looked like a HW to keep an eye on. Rossy was a solid journeymen & he beat him pretty easily if I remember correctly. Dropped him & won a wide UD. What kind of shape are the fighters in? Charr is usually always in decent shape but who knows with Bryan. If both are in good shape I have it a 50/50 but Bryan is really an unknown fighter. From what I seen of him in the 2 fights he could very well beat Charr but both have been so inactive who knows what we will get. Both guys getting a million. King running a show for the first time in 5 years. I said it months ago that King is still only one win away from having one of his fighters fight for another world title. Eric Molina being his last. The winner is cashing out asap against whoever is the WBA champion. You have to know if Bryan wins King will be taking his mandatory position to the courts to get his guy his shot. He is such a slimeball but good at what he does. So lets hope we have Charr win. Although King could just milk step aside money if Bryan wins. I never understood why King never made in house fights with Bryan. He could have fought Stiverne, De Mori, Lovejoy & Molina at some point the last 3 or 4 years. Of course I almost forgot... What is up with Fres Oquendo?

Stiverne vs Lovejoy on the undercard, and Beibut Shumenov Vs Raphael Murphy.

Hope this card happens with no fallouts lol

Overwhelming odds this doesn’t come off. Can already see the visa issue being a thing. Doesn’t Charr have a record? Best scenario is all are stripped of garbage belts

Yeah pretty weak card. King totally screwed Lovejoy of his biggest fight against Allen but if this card somehow happens then I guess Lovejoy gets his biggest fight yet. Not convinced this happens with Charr’s visa issue not finalized. Stiverne could get that WBA #15 ranking with a win. If Lovejoy is still that high. Lovejoy tried to pay $8000 to get out of his contract but King wanted $15000. Haha! Screwing guys over right until the end. Never understood why the CW champ Makabu or whatever his name is signed with him.
