Comments Thread For: Subriel Matias' Promoter is Furious Over Lack of Training

Last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it should have been a showcase for top junior welterweight contender Subriel Matias (15-1, 15 KOs). The boxer had just signed a multi-fight deal with Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions, who placed him on the undercard of the highly anticipated rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

      Should not have underestimated Ananyan.

      Tough as nails.

      Matias will be back.

I wasn't paying much attention to boxing the last couple of weeks due to a family tragedy, but was kind of kicking myself for not betting on this massive underdog. Despite him showing he can still stop guys in Peurto Rico, I thought things might be different in the US on a much greater stage. Though the angle for him winning was also very tragic unfortunately. Financially disappointing, but karmically, I think I'll come out on top not being a total vulture.

He will be fine, rematch is the best way to erase a Lose. Need to work on his Defense though, gotta move his HEAD can't just eat punches to try and score a devastating Knockout every time

Yeah, I remember he seemed pretty affected by that tragedy. No telling how that may have impacted his mindset.

Matias needs better trainers to teach him better defense, get out of Puerto Rico and learn how to properly train for a fight. props to Ananyan, He weathered the storm early and bullied Matias the second half of the fight.

Matias can be the next Juanma Lopez if he doesn’t get better training and technique.

This is a good start for Matias' learning curve. Its better to suffer a loss early on than to never hsd a chance.

Promoter like this Orengo (Dushbag) it’s what hurt Boxing. Matías as well as Ray Mancini will never be the same, after their tragic fight, the killing instinct won’t be the same. Orengo never been in a fighter shoes, never been hit you piece of s. H. I. T.

Matias was almost stopped in that 7th round by Ananyan's right hands bombs, Matias is gonna need some recovery, and on top of that he's 28 in a month, kind of late to teach him the new tricks
