  • "We accept your offer to fight at 130-pounds. Best fight the best at any weight and Rigo is the best fighter in the world pound-for-pound. So here you go Team Lomachenko - your bluff has been called. Now it's your turn to either fold or call. And I seem to believe after what Andre Ward did to Egis' other fighter this past weekend, I guarantee they will fold," Bornote said in a statement to BoxingScene.com.

That is the opposite of the truth. GGG told HBO he was ready to fight Ward next when asked in 2013. Ward told them he wasn't ready because of various problems he had.

GGG had signed to fight Lemieux and was mando for the winner of Cotto/Canelo when he got an offer from Ward. And even then, Ward was still asking for tune-ups first and saying he wouldn't be ready till the following year.
U conveniently left out much context. ggg told hbo he wanted to fight Ward when Ward was in a highly publicized promotional stalemate with his promoter and simultaneously recovering from an injury and therefore wasn't fighting anyone during this period. That's equivalent to me wanting a fight with u only while your on crutches.

During Wards hiatus, ggg/team spewed the infamous anyone from 154-168. Once Ward healed up and signed with Roc Nation he tried to answer ggg's call but he became to busy waiting for smaller guys to step up in weight for a pummeling or for guys like Monroe to answer the call.

Either way, any excuse ggg/team made u supported and even helped to propagate while attempting to marginalize Ward for attempting to answer ggg's phony call. U even swore up and down Ward wouldn't fight Kovalev, going so far as to say he'd fake an injury before the fight.

Just give up dude, ur logic has been exposed as racially compromised for quite some time now.

      • Ha, Rigo wants some money before he's too old to get it.

Rigo is a tiny dude. He'd proly weigh in at 125 for the 130 pound fight.

Don't seem like anyone at 26 wants it so what the hell.

**** Ward, he's a dirty azz home grown cheat anyways. Let the gullible have their diva who only fights at home and needs to cheat to win.

Actually Ward fought in 2013, the hbo thing was 2014.

And that's not much different than Ward saying nothing when k2/ggg said they'd do a CW and 50/50.

Ward didn't jump. He waited until the whole world knew GGG had been made mandatory to WBC holder Cotto, who was about to fight Canelo--biggest fight for him.

Roc knew ggg had signed with Lemiuex, because Cotto was getting the step aside to fight Canelo.

And it was widely known ggg and Lee would soon fight if Lee retained the WBO against Suanders.

Ward specifically waited to offer when GGG was landing title fights. Ward, hadn't fought a but one fighter in three years, a no that was at LHW. Why the hell would ggg drop a much better opportunity to move to Ward's class to give Ward 50/50 a year after Ward had turned him down?

So sure Ward had a decent excuse, but hardily any better than GGG having ppv signed.

            Sad, but true.

I would hope that retirement doesnt happen too soon. I'd like to see Rigo get a few more good paydays but too many fighters around his weight class refuse to fight him and a fighter of his abilities should be getting paid more than 120K for a fight.

As usual, the fight will come down to money.
considering that they just paid him only 120k to be the co-feature to Ward-Kovalev, I'm guessing NO..........

It's seems much different, considering at the time even the yogi's in the Himalayan Mountains had heard Ward was having some trouble making 168.

But if a fighter, ANY fighter, is going to keep calling out someone's name who is in a different division, then they should be prepared to move up or down to make it happen.

And FYI, a fighter saying "I will fight anyone" is not a call out.
Yet this thread has the highest numbers of posts and views today. Loma ain't much bigger than Rigo in terms of popularity, he's just getting a big push from Arum and unjustified purses.
